Illivium Move to Immutable zkEVM

These steps are necessary to ensure assets are migrated safely and correctly. We recommend avoiding time-sensitive actions close to the migration start.

As the Illuvium ecosystem transitions to Immutable zkEVM, there will be a dedicated migration window during which certain on-chain and in-game actions are temporarily limited. This page provides a high-level overview of what to expect and how the migration may affect your assets.

We’re working with Immutable to see if ERC-20 migration can be included during the freeze window for a smoother experience—but timing is not guaranteed.

What to Expect During the Migration Window

During the migration period, players should expect:

  • Temporary downtime across Illuvium Web services
  • Read-only modes where assets are visible but not interactive
  • Trading and marketplace activity to be paused
  • Delayed availability of some claim and payment flows

We recommend avoiding time-sensitive actions close to the migration start.

Feature Availability: Day One vs Later

Not all features will return at the same time. Here’s a high-level overview of what to expect.

Expected to be available early

Automated reward systems

Automated rewards from the Rewards Dashboard will be available as soon as the migration is complete.

Asset visibility across Illuvidex

You will be able to see all of your assets in Illuvidex as soon as the migration is complete.

Games: Arena, Zero, and Overworld

Arena and Zero will receive patches to connect to the new Assets and Metadata APIs and zkEVM endpoints. For players, this will feel like a normal update.

Overworld will be taken offline separately as part of preparations for the upcoming MMO.

Expected to return in phases

Marketplace Listing and Trading

All existing marketplace listings on the current Immutable chain will be cleared during migration. Listings cannot be carried over to zkEVM.

Once the zkEVM marketplace is live, players will need to re-list any items they wish to trade. This reset also removes stale and outdated listings accumulated over time, helping create a healthier marketplace environment moving forward.

Claims and Legacy Items

Some legacy campaign-style claim flows may be paused, redesigned, or reintroduced later. Usage of many of these legacy claims is extremely low, so any changes are expected to have minimal player impact.

Payments Flows on zkEVM

Fuel purchases via Stripe and existing supported chains are expected to continue with minimal disruption.

Some payment flows directly tied to zkEVM, such as token-based purchases or ILV-related actions on zkEVM, may not be available on day one and will roll out after migration as systems are validated.

Wallet Tokens Migration

The migration of ERC-20 tokens, including ILV and sILV2, held in Passport wallets will occur at the end of the process, once all assets have been successfully migrated.

Gas Fees and IMX

Some actions on zkEVM may require a small IMX balance to cover gas fees.

The player purchasing items from the shop won't incur any fees. Nor if players want to trade in the Illuvidex and their assets are on the Passport Wallet. However, if their assets are on a secondary wallet such as a hardware wallet or Metamask, there will be a gas fee.

Known Risks and Setting Expectations

We want to be transparent about potential friction:

  • Maintenance may extend based on verification requirements
  • Marketplace and token features may return gradually
  • Some claims may be delayed, redesigned, or deprecated
  • Gas and token handling may evolve as Immutable finalises configuration

Our priority is asset safety and correctness—not speed.
